In June of 2008 a dog destroyed our Pekin duck flock. At this stage we will not be replacing
them.
Rainbow Gate Farm's
Pekin Ducks
December 5, 2007 - Our ducklings have hatched. The count so far is 23
ducklings. There are two more still trying to hatch, but these latecomers
might not be successful.
Pekin Ducks are a multi-purpose breed. They were bred for meat and
eggs. The "broodiness" was bred out of them. In other words, the hen
duck will not sit on her own eggs. You have to incubate them
artificially if you want to hatch babies.  We use a Hovobator incubator
to hatch our ducklings.

These yellow ducklings will grow up into snow-white ducks.
The last duckling to hatch is show here just an hour
after hatching. He or she is not dry yet and is still in the
incubator! To read a story about this duckling, please
